The lane allocation for all Finals (except straight Finals) is determined by each crew's finish position and time in their Semi-finals. Under normal weather conditions, the crews will be "spearheaded" so that the Semi-final winners are in the centre lanes. In the event of unfair weather conditions, then the lane allocation will be arranged so that the Semi-final winners are in the most sheltered lanes. The decision on the fairness of the weather conditions, and hence the lane allocation strategy rests with the Race Committee. Where events have more than one round, then this same lane allocation procedure will be followed for intermediate rounds.
